Allegory of the Cave

When Socrates is quoting homer he is saying that it is better to be poor and have knowledge then to blindly live with immense wealth and no other knowledge. Socrates uses this quote to emphasize the idea that we do cannot understand the real world and reality until we use our intellectual abilities to interpret the true meaning. I agree with Socrates on this point because i think it is very important to evaluate ourselves and our environments through an intellectual viewpoint.
