I think that Jennifer Church does do a good job of answering so what? who Cares? in her example in Guide to writing proposals. Her main thesis of the proposal is that we need to stop destroying the worlds biodiversity. she then says, "One medicine vanishing due to loss of biodiversity is TAXOL. Found in the wollemi tree, TAXOL is one of the most promising drugs in the treatment of ovarian and breast cancer. If the wollemi tree becomes extinct, we will loose this potential cure" (Paragraph 2). In this excerpt she explains that we should all care because of the impact this could have if we continue on this path of destruction.
